Hezekiah was a poster king compared to Manasseh, his son and successor. After Manasseh led the nation astray, we might consider his contrition to be only a display to get a little leniency. But no, God, who is aware of all things on earth, responded with forgiveness. He has done that for all people because of the death of our Savior, Jesus Christ. We have all fallen short of the perfection God’s Law demands, so we need not be compared to anyone. On this holy day, let us entreat our Father through the great King, Jesus Christ, confidently believing that He is moved with mercy by the sacrificial death of the Son of Manasseh, our Lord and Savior.
