Today Jesus tells us about the mission that is also our mission (John 4:21-42). In this text Jesus refers to the “bread He must eat” (John 4:32) as the mission that the Father in heaven has given to him to live out in faithfulness. He shows us that the identity that he gets from God as His Son and how leads to his active obedience to the cross in our stead. We too eat of the Bead of Life who gives us his mission in our lives to live out faithfully. As we live out God’s will for us we live it out sealed in the good news of our salvation in Jesus Christ.
